Ticketing in public transport – one POS system, many possible applications

Distribution systems in local public transport are as diverse as their operators and line structures. While some of them are used purely as ticketing applications, others are already integrated into the passenger information system or function as a complete on-board computer. Good when you can then fall back on a system that can do everything.

From ticket sales to a complete on-board computer - what would you like?

Point-of-sale systems in public transportation have long since ceased to be pure ticket-selling machines. They, too, must meet the growing demands for efficiency and digital networking, thus offering added value to passengers, drivers and operators.

Taking these requirements into account, FELA offers a ticketing concept for many different application scenarios that fits particularly well into the diverse Swiss transport landscape.

The offer includes both mobile and stationary ticket vending machines as well as a POS system that can be used equally in the vehicle and in the ticket office. The POS application can be extended not only to include barcode scanners for non-ticket sales, but also integration with the passenger information system.

Integration of the POS display into the passenger information system

In the cramped driver’s compartment, the available space must be used as effectively as possible. Thus, the screen of the FELA POS system can simultaneously be used as an interface to the vehicle’s passenger information system. By coupling the software communication accordingly, the driver can thus access bead line display or control of audio announcements via only one, multiple-use display.

The ticketing hardware is controlled and managed by the EasyDrive software developed in-house, which links all the components and enables central administration in the back end and user-friendly operation in the front end.

The connection to ZPS-NOVA ensures the most comfortable driving experience possible, for which only one ticket needs to be purchased regardless of the respective route sections.
